TRAINING #7 - DEVELOPING SPIKE SKILLS IN VOLLEYBALL

Group: 10 - 14 years (Beginners)

Training Duration: 75 minutes

Materials necessary for the training: Mat, tennis ball, spike box, hat shaped cones.

Warm-up

Warm-up and Coordination Exercises (30 min)

Two groups of athletes are formed and 10 passes are played 

Mobilization and stabilization exercises and ladder drills  are performed

Mutual ball warm-up

2 athletes practice spike wrists with each other (body position of the athletes should be carefully controlled).

Learning New Skills

Learning New Skills (35 min.)

Each athlete is given a tennis ball and asked to throw the tennis ball in the air and hold it with a spike technique.

Athletes take turns throwing the ball and are asked to catch it from the highest point

A mat is placed on the ground and the athletes are asked to jump on it and demonstrate the spike technique.

They are asked to put their knees on the ground with whichever hand they will spike with and they are asked to take the spike position, after throwing the ball, they are asked to hit the ball.

Athletes get on top of the box in the 4- 3- 2 positions and spike the ball they throw to the designated areas, arm techniques and wrist movements should be observed correctly

Cool Down

Cool Down (10mins)

A spin-win game is played, the ball is thrown as a second pass and a spike is made according to the level of development.
