TRAINING #8 - DEVELOPING SPIKE SKILLS IN VOLLEYBALL

Group: 10 - 14 years (Beginners)

Training Duration: 75 minutes

Materials necessary for the training: Box, mat, tennis ball, foam noodle.

Warm-up

Warm-up and Coordination Exercises (30 min)

Shuttle running 

Plyometric exercises and ladder drills for quickness

Mutual ball warm-up

2 athletes, facing each other, practice the inner and outer spike wrist (body position of the athletes should be carefully controlled).

The spike is slammed in return, the athlete meets the ball with control underhand pass (attention should be paid to wrist and arm technique)

Learning New Skills

Learning New Skills (35 min.)

Hitting a tennis ball over the net with an outstretched arm

To bounce with a tennis ball by stepping and hitting it over the net by showing wrist movement

The athlete hits the ball he/she throws by stepping

Athlete stands on the box and kicks the ball thrown by the coach

Athlete makes a spike on the ball thrown by the coach 

At number 4, an artificial block is created with foam noodles in the net area and the athlete is asked to hit the ball thrown by the coach to the place where there is no block 

Practices on the technique of hitting highballs. 

Cool Down

Cooling Phase (10 min.)

The team on 5 point in the underhand match (15 points) wins the spike on the inbound ball
